Barclays Capital has appointed Jean-François Astier as head of leveraged finance in the Americas as it steps up its bid to become one of the top three arrangers of leveraged loans globally in 2010 and one of the top five underwriters of junk bonds.

Calyon has appointed Paul Brown as managing director in its DCM origination team, where he will focus on high yield primary markets, and Howard Goldberg as senior desk analyst with a focus on high yield corporates.
