Insurers underestimating illiquidity in whole loans
Insurance companies are being driven to buy whole loan portfolios because of juicy spreads and the poor regulatory treatment of securitization, but they could be underestimating illiquidity and operational risk in the asset class, said a Goldman Sachs banker in a panel at Global ABS on Wednesday.
