New York-based EagleRock Capital Management has hired John Petrozzi from Goldman Sachs, where he was a senior high yield and distressed debt trader for the past six years. Petrozzi, who will report to Founder Nader Tavakoli, will be responsible for trading high yield and distressed debt at the multi-strategy fund. "Nader has been responsible for this position in the past and just wanted to be able to focus on other research areas," said Shannon Perrin, business development director.
Petrozzi said he had worked with Tavakoli on deals in the past and had gotten to know him personally, which made the move attractive. "Nader has had unbelievable success over the years and I had a chance to come on board and help direct and build this business. I'm very excited to be working with him," Petrozzi said.
EagleRock is an event-driven, multi-strategy hedge fund with $250 million in assets. Peter Lupoff left EagleRock at the start of this year to launch Azura Capital (LMW, 1/24). He brought over analyst Brian Cohen. Tavakoli founded the firm in 2001; he previously managed high-yield, distressed and special situation equity investments at Odyssey Partners and Highbridge Capital Management. Calls to a Goldman spokeswoman were not returned.
