I must admit, however, that there are some interesting sights to take in when looking down from these 200 metre-tall buildings.
I recently caught up with a CEO chum who works at the top of one of them (he wanted to show off his new corner office, I wanted to talk to his secretary). He was talking to me about the traffic and bus and tram closures caused by the Occupy Central protests, and said a few of his staff had started coming into work late, or were even working from home.
But my mate has a plan to keep an eye out for any truant-playing employees who might try to take advantage of the situation. His office conveniently overlooks a posh rooftop bar and he is considering placing a telescope in front of the window so he can keep an eye on whether any of his bankers are basing themselves there while claiming to be stuck behind the barricades.
I don’t know who to feel more sorry for — my friend, who obviously has nothing better to do, or the poor saps who probably need a few stiff drinks to get them through the day.
