No quaking in the boots for me

Sake

A trip to Tokyo always provides a shock to the senses, but when you are jolted awake at 5:20 in the morning by an earthquake, you certainly get a fresh perspective on life.

The quake only lasted a couple of minutes and I spent much of that time figuring out if it was TaiTai’s tossing and turning that shook the bed or the after-effect of too many sakes.

But when the tremors died down, I came out from under the desk (TaiTai insisted) a changed man. The 6.2 magnitude quake had left me physically unscathed, but I vowed there and then to live life to the fullest. This of course meant trying every kind of shochu, sake and umeshu. Kanpai!
