Charles "Chip" Schorin, managing director head of asset-backed bond research at Morgan Stanley in New York, has left the firm for Elliot Management Co., a hedge fund. Schorin is a veteran of the ABS market and was selected by investors as the third-best ABS analyst in last year's Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Research Team. He left Morgan Stanley in recent weeks and the firm has not yet announced a replacement, said Ryan Marshall, head of fixed-income research. Schorin did not return a call and details about his new position could not be determined by press time. He had been promoted to managing director a little more than a year ago (BW, 2/9/04).
