The salvo started with Soc Gen’s Laurent Vignon who slighted all Brits on Tuesday. When discussing the UK’s second May bank holiday, Vignon could not hide his distain.
“You lot have too much spare time,” said Vignon.
Well Laurent, that may be true for journalists, but I’d argue that there are probably other people in this country who do work hard.
Later in the week, RBS’s Jonathan Pughe knocked the Ranger back with a particularly cutting remark.
The Ranger was bemoaning some aspect of the market to Pughe, saying “...yes, I know the nature of the beast” when Pughe shot back (without a moment’s hesitation): “You are the beast!”
Thanks very much Jonathan!
Banca Imi’s Antonio Stochino took a very subtle approach. Rather than outrightly offend anyone — as Stochino is too polite to do — he just gently mocked the Ranger with his intellectual superiority.
The Ranger: “I went to the seaside this weekend, what did you do?”
Stochino: “Oh, just read a couple of books.”
Ranger: “...just a couple of books?!”
