The Ranger was warmly invited to the LMA’s annual Nordic seminar last Monday, and you only had to look at the conference centre’s dry bar at the end of the evening to know the event had been a success.
Below Stockholm’s sunny skies, a record 200 delegates pitched up for the latest trends in the Nordic loan market, including panels on Brexit, competition law, sanctions and the LBO market.
Before the seminar commenced, the Ranger met Kristjan Kotkas, an international rugby player for Estonia and also a lawyer at Cobalt.
Nursing sore hamstrings after playing rugby the day before, Kristjan was found slumped over a networking table in the lobby.
His pain was well worth it as Estonia gained promotion to the European Nations Cup’s division two next season. Congratulations Kristjan!
To the amusement of the panellists and the audience, the private equity discussion was briefly interrupted by music booming from the adjacent conference room.
At the end of the panel, LMA director Nick Voisey encouraged audience members to join him next door during the coffee break to audition for Sweden’s version of the X Factor.
