ECB’s cheap loans hold back minibond expansion
Minibonds encompass some flimsy products and some promising ones, such as Italy’s move to channel institutional money to SMEs. The Italian market was set to take off in 2015 but the European Central Bank’s drive to flood the real economy with credit has been so effective that minibond development has stalled. But as Nathan Collins reports, many remain convinced the product’s day will come.
