Loan Ranger: track ‘em down

The Ranger was relentless in hounding busy bankers last week - no matter what activities they were already engaged in.

There was no respite for Jonathan MacDonald. Despite being back in rainy London for a breather, the Abu Dhabi-based syndicated finance head had to shout down the line over the howling wind as he walked his dog around a wet London park.

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas’ Federica Sartori simultaneously directed her taxi around Milan and opined on Italy’s private placement market.

Stanbic IBTC’s dcm head, Kobby Bentsi-Enchill was busy opening mail in his Lagos office when the Ranger called. Bentsi-Enchill laughed through his exasperation about delayed execution times as he read letters from the SEC Nigeria.

Stefan Scherff, a true multi-tasker, juggled a call from GlobalCapital and an unwell toddler at the same time. (NB - Scherff was not actually throwing a small child in the air).

Silver’s tough interrogation skills finally bored through to one singular Scandi loans head, who cracked under pressure and told the Ranger's sidekick in his own inimitable style what he really thought of the loan market and European Central Bank stimulus: “Basically it’s a tits up world and we have to do the best we can till it regulates, if ever!”

"Kemo sabe!" cried Tonto. The long reach of the Ranger and friends cannot be avoided.

Speaking of which, we hope you are warming up your vocal chords for the Loan Syndicate Manager’s Forum Christmas carols on Wednesday.

We will see you all there at St Lawrence Jewry, Guildhall Yard, at 5.30pm. Hard-earned mulled wine and mince pies aplenty at the Commerzbank offices after the carols.
