Securitisation is alive but not exactly well. Issuance has resumed, on both sides of the Atlantic, although its return in Europe is extremely tentative. As Chris Dammers reports, while the product’s recovery is expected to continue in 2010, it will emerge, thanks to new regulation, as a less attractive financing tool than it was before the credit crunch began and will have to compete with tougher rivals.
