If 2011 was a year of crisis and strain for financial markets, few are willing to say 2012 will be much better. But there is one big difference from a year ago: the crisis is no longer hidden, waiting to burst forth. It is out in the open, and everyone from Angela Merkel and Mario Draghi to investment bankers and fund managers is yearning for a solution.
