Is the bond market ready for disintermediation?
Banks, we are constantly told, will no longer be able to provide credit so readily, or so cheaply. Part of that is probably hype — banks actually like lending. But if companies are going to have to rely on bond markets, are they up to the job? After a turbulent year in the markets, there have to be doubts. Jon Hay reports.
