This has been a year like no other for market participants. Operationally and socially, the derivatives market has faced challenges that we could never have imagined last September when we revealed the last winners of these awards at a gala dinner in London.
As with so many other events this year, a repeat of that celebration, with good food, flowing wine and singing waiters, was impossible to put together.
Although celebrating these awards in person was out of the question, so was the idea of abandoning them altogether. So many corners of the derivatives industry have responded to this coronavirus crisis with the resilience, innovation and desire to do better that we look to recognise with these awards.
In summer, we began consulting with the Street to determine the best nominees for each award. Then GlobalCapital met with those nominees to hear the stories of their business over the preceding 12 months. In each case, an editorial panel then selected the winners based upon examples of innovation, growth and working for betterment of the global derivatives markets. Finally, we decided the winners from an extremely competitive field by editorial panel.
Our congratulations to the winners and our thanks to all of the nominees, which contested each category so fiercely, and to our supporters for their engagement in these awards. Derivatives house of the year
